Employers should provide comprehensive mental health support for their employees. And beyond that, foster an environment where mental wellbeing is openly valued and discussed without stigma. It’s idea to provide mental health resources such as counseling services and flexible work schedules to reduce burnout. Managers should be trained to recognize signs of distress and respond appropriately. Also, benefits like insurance coverage for therapy, wellness programs, and a good work-social community can make a significant difference. This pays the employers back to. The better mental state their employees are in, the more productive they can be.

This is so true! Especially in more challenging fields who are supporting others, it should be a given to have mental health support to take care of themselves too. I also think there should be a different bank for Mental Health days. People shouldn’t have to take sick days to recoup. And let’s be honest… how many PTO days are people taking in the year that is really vacation? Probably not a lot. Unfortunately people have to save and take PTO for kids and other family members being sick, or school getting cancelled from weather, or doctor appointments… not exactly quality R&R!

I think that mental health support should be included in benefits at a job. Additionally, I would be interested to see how mental health days could benefit employees and employers. I think we would see better work quality, efficiency, and overall well-being if mental health days were included. This should also be separate from sick days and pto.
