getting a fun drink or taking a shower instantly helps me. When I am feeling down or having a difficult time getting out of a funk I take a shower and instantly feel better.

I think that mental health support should be included in benefits at a job. Additionally, I would be interested to see how mental health days could benefit employees and employers. I think we would see better work quality, efficiency, and overall well-being if mental health days were included. This should also be separate from sick days and pto.

One of the biggest myths about going to therapy is that its only for people with serious mental health disorders. Therapy is for anyone. Life is constantly changing and as humans we don’t always know how to handle it.

  • One psychological concept that helped me better understand myself was the attachment theory. It helps me understand how my upbringing can directly influence how I act in my adult relationships.

I personally think it is important to stay aware of what is going on by not to focus too much on it. I understand that many do not have this ability. It can be difficult when lots of news media outlets post on social media. Staying off my phone when I need a brain break helps me protect my mental health

I personally love when schools provide free workshops to discuss common difficulties for college students. Also im not sure if every college has one, but mental health clinics are great. My school provides free counseling sessions and also group therapy options.

There are a lot of cognitive and physical benefits of mindfulness. It can keep your blood pressure down, help with attention, and keep your emotions in your control. I think mindfulness is important because it keeps me grounded and remember all of the good when I am stressed

I use multiple different studying methods depending on the subject. I like to make sure I plan ahead to make sure I have time to study each concept I have to. I like using the pomodoro method, which uses a timer. I find this technique useful because it has designated breaks to keep me focuses and helps me not burnout. I also like using the blurt method for any test or exams i have in person!

I’m not a parent but i am interested with how useful parenting groups can be for new parents or those struggling. I think everyone needs a village and it can be useful to use your village to manage your stress and/or guilt

I always have to remind myself that this difficult time will past and the feelings I am experiencing will not last forever. I like to think if there is a positives by thinking if I am in a situation where others with they were in. For example when I find myself getting stressed or overwhelmed by school, I remember that others wished they could be in school and have opportunities to receive an education. It helps me stay grounded 🙂

I agree. Its important with teens to not pry and give them the space they need, but also letting them know you are here for them. those simply reminders go a long way and help people feel cared for and important.

I love your explanation with the difference between self care and avoidance. I think this falls heavily into procrastination because you think you are doing yourself a favor by taking time for yourself but in reality you are creating a difficult position for your future self.

  • I’ll have to try this one!
