I have done online counseling/therapy. It was a good experience. I think that online therapy is actually a huge net positive. Some people are worried about the quality of the therapy declining, but I think the circumstances weight that out. The first therapy session should be more administrative than actual therapy. I always give my clients a spiel about me as the therapist doing most the talking in the first session, but then they do the heavy lifting by doing the majority of the talking in the following sessions. When you feel comfortable being vulnerable with them and feel as though you are their only concern during their time with you. If you feel seen and heard, and feel progress is going to be made.

A good workout to compartmentalize stress by outputting stress on your body. It helps the flow of endorphins while simultaneously giving an outlet of emotion.

Genetics can play a bigger role in our mental health than we give credit to! Read “It Didn’t Start With You” by Mark Wolynn to understand how deep trauma can run, and so much so that it can be generational.

Keep your work email off your phone. There is no reason to be checking your email off hours, you’re not getting paid for that, and it will be there the next work day.

That the therapist has all the answers. The client is the one doing the work, not the therapist. Think of therapists as the bumpers that come up to redirect your bowling ball when it’s going down the lane. Therapists are there to redirect the conversation or keep you focused on the end goals.
