How do you make time for self-care during a busy week?
Giving myself “non-negotiables”. I have to carve out time, even if it’s 20 minutes a day to go for a walk or read a book I’m enjoying. If I give myself those “non-negotiables”, I tend to do them without even giving myself the option to not do it.

What’s one daily habit that has improved your mental well-being?
Journaling all my positives throughout the day. It makes me have an easier time identifying the good things even on the bad days. I just do a list so it’s easy to add to throughout the day and it can be any size. Sometimes a good cup of coffee is enough for me to write it down.

What study habits help reduce your academic stress?
Setting a timer. Set your timer to something manageable like 15 minutes and try to work on as much as you can without distractions or stopping your workflow until your timer goes off. Most likely you will continue working past that allotted time because you’ll be in a groove. If that doesn’t happen, give yourself a small break, and reset that time!

How do you calm yourself during a stressful moment?
Deep breaths always. Deep breath through your nose, hold it and count to 4, let it go through your mouth until all the air has been released. 3X.

Does social media increase or reduce your stress levels?
Social media definitely increases my stress levels. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel like social media is bad on every front, but it definitely can make me more stressed out– even subconsciously. If I am on my phone too much before bed– doomscrolling on TikTok– it takes me way longer to fall asleep. Does anybody else feel the same way?

What’s one thing that helps you manage anxiety in public settings?
I recently learned this strategy that I think is really great for issues like this! You open your palm and trace/write the word “person” onto it. Then, close your palm and pretend to swallow/chew the word. It may sound silly but doesn’t everything before you try it? I find it works for me.

Do you trust AI to offer meaningful emotional help?
In emergency or short term situations, I think so honestly. It can talk someone down from a ledge and provide a good set of tips depending on the issue.
